Good observations! On a parallel with the nostalgia for communism — I am older and actually heard some black friends reminiscing nostalgically about the “good old days” of segregation. Baffling to me — I grew up in a place and time when “whites only” signs were common. I felt so ashamed even as as kid. Then one day my Dad and I were denied admittance to a restaurant because with our dark tans, we weren’t quite white enough. My dad said he didn’t want to eat in a place like that anyhow.
